The diagram to your right should explain what is acceptable and what is not.

If you have any questions please call us on 0161 763 9666.

What size skips are available from Bury Skip Hire?

Woking Skips offers a wide range of skip sizes for just about every need. Skips sizes are measured in cubic yards. We offer skips in the following sizes: 4 CU yards, 6 CU yards, 8 CU yards and 12 CU yards.

Which skip size is the right for me or my business?

At Bury Skip Hire, we offer a full range of skips. Some are great for a bit of DIY, perhaps redoing that kitchen or bathroom. Others are for more commercial uses. If you are unsure of which skip is right for your project, please contact our skip hire specialists on 0161 763 9666. We’d be more than happy to chat directly with you to make sure you get the skip you need.

What materials CAN go into a skip?

Our skips are for disposing of inert waste – wood, cardboard, old sofas or chairs. Basically, any non-hazardous waste materials can go into our skips. If you have are uncertain, please give our skip hire specialists a call on 0161 763 9666 to discuss it over the telephone.

What materials CAN’T go into a skip?

Skips must not contain toxic waste, drums or other liquids, tyres, asbestos, solvents, oil, paints, pressure vessels without previous written permission from Bury Skip Hire. We are licenced for these items but they must be booked in and loaded separately

The following items are considered hazardous waste:

asbestos
paint
tyres
gas bottles
fridges
freezers
TVs
fluorescent tubes
light bulbs
vehicle batteries

If you are disposing of any of the above, please give us a call on 0161 763 9666, so we can tell you about our hazardous waste services and make special arrangements.

Where can the skips be placed?

Skips need to be placed on private property. They cannot be placed on the highway without a permit and correct signage and lights – our skip hire specialists can procure this for you should you require one. If you cannot place on private land, we can still help you by arranging for a grab lorry, which can pick up the rubbish direct from the ground.

As the vehicles delivering to your house are very large, please ensure that there is sufficient access to the point where our skips need to be delivered. If you are unsure about access, please give us a call and we can provide you with the approximate dimensions of the lorry used to deliver the skip you require.

Please remember that due to the stabilising equipment on a skip lorry, damage can sometimes occur to the ground where the skip is positioned. This is especially applicable to block paved and soft tarmac drives. For more information on this please contact us.

Do skips require a permit?

Skips on the road must have a permit, we obtain this from the local council. We provide lights and cones but the hirer must ensure they are lit and cones remain correctly positioned. The maximum size allowed on the road is an 8 cubic yard skip.

Is my waste recycled?

Recycling is very important to Bury Skip Hire. We make every attempt to recycle as much of the contents returned to us. We recycle metal, wood and other materials.

If you order with us and would like to know what happens to your waste when it leaves your property we would be more than happy to let you know.

Pre-treatment Law (2007) means all waste must go through some form of treatment to increase recycling. It is illegal for mixed waste to go direct to landfill. This law was designed to protect the environment and bury skip hire are proud to fully comply with these laws.
